Armored Up

Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. 'I cannot go in these,' he said to Saul, 'because I am not used to them.' So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine." ~ 1 Samuel 17:38-40

Who's armor are you equipped with?

Are you wearing armor meant for someone else?

Perhaps you're in a job that you shouldn't be in. Or a relationship you shouldn't be pursuing. Or your living a lifestyle not pleasing to God.

Whatever it is, God has designed a specific course for your life. But it doesn't work if you're wearing someone else's armor.

Distractions

"But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, 'Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!' 'Martha,' the Lord answered, 'you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.'" ~ Luke 10:40-42

Is there something in your life that is distracted you from God's purpose?

Does something have you off track?

If so, it's important to eliminate it.

You just may be missing out on the blessing that God has for you.

God bless,
J.W.

God's Plans

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' ~ Jeremiah 29:11

God knows the plans He has for you.

But do you?

When we make our own plans and walk in a direction contrary to that which God has designed specifically for us, we are only headed for frustration and failure.

God will reveal His plans to you. But you must seek them.

God bless,
J.W.

Give Thanks

"...give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:18

I know the holidays can be tough for some who may have lost a loved one or may be affected by past pain caused by family, but I just want to encourage you all to give thanks for the things you do have.

We may not have everything we want, but God has been good to us this year and we should give Him thanks this holiday season.

Have a very happy, safe, and blessed Thanksgiving!

God bless,
J.W.

PLAY SYNOPSIS
Written and directed by James and Michele Woodson, "Love's Gonna Get Ya!" is based on the true story of eight young singles and their quest for true love.

So focused on pursuing his career goals, Nate is too busy to stop and smell the roses. Heart broken from past relationships, Jasmine realizes that it's not her job to find her husband, but God's. With their timely meeting and subsequent love story as the backdrop, the crux of the play lies in the trials and tribulations of their six friends, each of whom have their own difficulties with relationships and love. The union of the new couple causes sparks to fly and brings out some missteps their friends have in finding their perfect mate.

Written specifically for the single, dating Christian, no matter the age, “Love’s Gonna Get Ya!” epitomizes the scripture, “there is a way that seems right to a man...” (Proverbs 14:12).

It's Not About You!

"Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you." ~ Romans 12:3

As innately selfish creatures, most of us think life is all about us - our problems, our greatness, our accomplishments, our ups ad downs, our sickness, our health.

But God paints a different picture of what life is supposed to be. He urges us not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought.

Make no mistake - we are more than conquerors in Christ (Romans 8:37). God has called us to be a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9). We are sons and daughters of the King (Galatians 3:26).

But true greatness is found in humility (Matthew 23:12), in service to others (Mark 10:43-44), and in love (John 15:13).

It's not about you!

One Of A Kind

"Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: 'Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.'” ~ Jeremiah 1:4-5

Do you know that God has a plan for your life?

He has a specific and unique purpose for each of us.

So while you may look at yourself as just an ordinary plain Jane, God sees so much more in you.

He has created you to be one of a kind.

God bless,
J.W.

Moment of Silence

"And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains... but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire, a still small voice." ~ 1 Kings 19:11-12

In the hustle and bustle that is life, we often forget to take time out for silence. Many of us are scared of silence, unnerved by it, uncomfortable with it.

But, it's in those moments of silence that God speaks the loudest.

Have you taken a moment of silence today?

God bless,
J.W.

Taking Risks

"And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus." ~ Matthew 14:29

Success can only be achieved when he have enough courage to step out of the boat, step out of the box, and take a risk.

When you do, God has promised to be right there with you.

But you've got to take the first step.

Take a risk for Christ today!

God bless,
J.W.

His Promises Are True

"Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, 'And to seeds,' as of many, but as of one, 'And to your Seed,' who is Christ." ~ Galatians 3:16

Remember Abraham? God promised him the world.

Remember Joseph? God delivered him from slavery.

Remember the Hebrews in Egypt? God protected their children from the angel of death during Passover.

Remember David? God turned him from a little shepherd boy into a great king.

Remember Moses? God turned him from a bumbling fool into a deliverer of His people.

Remember Jeremiah? God turned him from a coward into a bold prophet.

And He can do the same for us.

His promises are true.

God bless,
J.W.

Captain of the Ship

"And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” ~ Mark 4:37-41

Often times, God doesn't show us where His will simply to test our faith.

Think about it. If we knew the end result of our pain, would we really trust Him to bring us through it? If we knew why we experienced certain trials and tribulations, would we draw closer to Him in tough times?

Walking blind through the valley is healthy for us. You don't need to know where we're going when you trust the captain of the ship.

God bless,
J.W.

Precious In His Sight

"He found him in a desert land and in the wasteland, a howling wilderness; He encircled him, He instructed him, He kept him as the apple of His eye." ~ Deuteronomy 32:10

Don't you know that you are the apple of God's eye?

He keeps your picture in His wallet.

He hangs your paintings on His fridge.

He loves you beyond measure.

You are truly precious in His sight.

God bless,
J.W.

Faith

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." ~ Hebrews 11:1

Through faith, God gives us the ability to see things that others can't see.

Have you tapped into that ability yet? If not, you may want to check and see how much faith you have in God.

God bless,
J.W.

More Than Conquerors

"No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." ~ Romans 8:37-39

Make no mistake - Satan is real.

The Bible urges us to "be self-controlled and alert" because "your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he might devour" (1 Peter 5:8) It also says, however, that we are MORE than conquerors in Christ.

So, while you stay alert to the devil's schemes, know that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) as long as God is on your side.

God bless,
J.W.

Expect The Unexpected

"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." ~ Ephesians 3:20-21

As Christians, we serve a God who is bigger than any challenge we might face.

The Bible says he is able to go "exceedingly abundantly" beyond what we could ask or think. He holds all power in His hands.

So, why do we doubt ourselves? More importantly, why do we doubt God?

Expect the unexpected from Him today!

God bless,
J.W.

New Beginnings

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

Tomorrow, I start a new job. There’s nothing like when God grants you a new beginning. A fresh start. A renewed purpose. A different spirit.

It’s always filled with so much promise, so much potential, so much hope.

And that’s what he offers to all of us through salvation. A fresh start. A renewed purpose. A different spirit.

Ask him for a new beginning today.

God bless,
J.W.

Wise Steward

And the Lord said, “Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household... Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all that he has." ~ Luke 12:42-44

God calls us to be good stewards over that which He has given us - that is, our time, talents (our gifts), and our treasure (money).

So, how good of a steward are you being?

God bless,
J.W.
