The Assignment Bureau (Part 2)

In 1 Samuel 18:1-4, Jonathan, the son of King Saul, becomes assigned to David.

The Bible says that “when [David] had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David . . . Then Jonathan made a covenant with David . . . Jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, including his sword and his bow and his belt.” In 1 Samuel 20, Jonathan then warns David that Saul intends to kill him, allowing David to flee the land from harm.

There are certain people you are assigned to help - through your knowledge, wisdom, and/or resources. But in order to recognize these opportunities, you've got to be open to give of yourself.

It's not always about what you can get from other people. It's about what you give (Acts 20:35).

God bless,

The Assignment Bureau (Part 1)

God is a God of assignment.

He assigned Adam and Eve to have charge over all creation (Genesis 1:28).

He assigned Noah to build an ark (Genesis 6:14).

He assigned Moses to lead His people out of Egypt (Exodus 3:10).

He assigned Joshua to take them out of the wilderness and into the promised land (Deuteronomy 31:33).

He assigned the prophets to remind the Israelites of their covenant with Him.

He assigned Jesus to die on the cross for our sins (Luke 9:22).

And He assigned all of us to go into the world and preach the Good News (Mark 16:15).

But God doesn’t just assign us to complete tasks. He also assigns us to people.

The question is, to whom are you assigned?

More to come tomorrow.

God bless,
J.W.

Armored Up

Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. 'I cannot go in these,' he said to Saul, 'because I am not used to them.' So he took them off. Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine." ~ 1 Samuel 17:38-40

Who's armor are you equipped with?

Are you wearing armor meant for someone else?

Perhaps you're in a job that you shouldn't be in. Or a relationship you shouldn't be pursuing. Or your living a lifestyle not pleasing to God.

Whatever it is, God has designed a specific course for your life. But it doesn't work if you're wearing someone else's armor.

God bless,
J.W.

His Promises Are True

"Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, 'And to seeds,' as of many, but as of one, 'And to your Seed,' who is Christ." ~ Galatians 3:16

Remember Abraham? God promised him the world.

Remember Joseph? God delivered him from slavery.

Remember the Hebrews in Egypt? God protected their children from the angel of death during Passover.

Remember David? God turned him from a little shepherd boy into a great king.

Remember Moses? God turned him from a bumbling fool into a deliverer of His people.

Remember Jeremiah? God turned him from a coward into a bold prophet.

And He can do the same for us.

His promises are true.

God bless,
J.W.
