Captain of the Ship

"And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?”
Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” ~ Mark 4:37-41

Often times, God doesn't show us where His will simply to test our faith.

Think about it. If we knew the end result of our pain, would we really trust Him to bring us through it? If we knew why we experienced certain trials and tribulations, would we draw closer to Him in tough times?

Walking blind through the valley is healthy for us. You don't need to know where we're going when you trust the captain of the ship.

God bless,

Peace In The Midst of the Storm

Often times, we all lead hectic, crazy lives.

Between work and family demands, our days are full of rushing, worrying, and juggling.

But despite the craziness that we experience, God has promised to grant us peace in the midst of our storms.

All we have to do is recognize His awesome power and call on His name.

God bless,
J.W.

"Without warning, a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, 'Lord, save us! We're going to drown!' He replied, 'You of little faith, why are you so afraid?' Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm." ~ Matthew 8:24-26

Walk On Water (Part II)

“During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. ‘It's a ghost,’ they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them: ‘Take courage! It is I. Don't be afraid.’ Then Peter replied, ‘Lord, if it's you, tell me to come to you on the water.” ~ Matthew 14:25-28

Like the disciples, many people are afraid to step out of the boat. They like to play it safe, keep on an even keel. In short, they are afraid of change and thrive in the status quo.

But just like the disciples learned, often times, the storms of life get the best of us when we are disobedient to the voice of God. The waves crash and the winds roll and keep us from accomplishing all God has in store for us.

So, I say to you, don’t be afraid to step out of the boat! God’s best is waiting for you.

God bless,
J.W.
