Lean On Me

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” ~ Proverbs 3:5

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.” ~ Matthew 7:24-27

Who are you leaning upon today?

What are you placing your trust in?

If it’s anything other than Jesus, then it’s built on unstable ground.

God bless,

God's Hands

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

Often, when we have tough decisions to make, we choose our own path.

Sometimes, we weigh the pros and cons and choose based on what's most advantageous to our current situation.

Other times, we seek the advice of our friends and family and choose based on what someone else tells us is most advantageous to us.

And still, other times, we become so paralyzed with fear that we end up making no decision at all.

But, what if, instead, we actually trusted God?

What if we actually gave our circumstances to Him?

What if we actually put it in His hands?

Might our lives be easier? Might our paths be straighter?

Might we realize that His way is better than ours?

God bless,

My Father's Business

“So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, ‘Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.’ And He said to them, ‘Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?’ But they did not understand the statement which He spoke to them.” ~ Luke 2:48-50

Often, when we develop new relationships, the people closest to us will start to feel alienated or left out. “You’ve changed,” they’ll say. “We don’t hear from you anymore.” “You don’t call like you used to.”

Like Jesus, we are to be about our father’s business and remain unapologetic for charting a new course in life.

Our new relationship with God should take precedent over all others.

God bless,
J.W.

Who Is My Brother?

“While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. Then one said to Him, ‘Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.’ But He answered and said to the one who told Him, ‘Who is My mother and who are My brothers?’ And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, ‘Here are My mother and My brothers! For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.’” ~ Matthew 12:46-50

In 3 of the 4 synoptic gospels, the story of Jesus claiming His spiritual family over His biological one is depicted.

Clearly, this was an important message that God wanted to convey to us, His people.

No matter how close our blood bonds are, they are nothing compared with the bond we should have to God.

At the end of the day, there’s nobody who will love you better or stronger.

God bless,
J.W.

Persecution

No scripture today.

I just wanted to share this article with you all.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=87262

It’s about a woman from Egypt who was arrested trying to leave Cairo for Russia, all because she was a Christian.

Let’s not take for granted the incredible opportunity and privilege we have to worship God in freedom.

The crazy part about this story is that even the judge in her case threatens to kill her because of her religious views.

Pray for your brothers and sisters around the world that God might protect them as they live their lives openly for Jesus Christ.

God bless,
J.W.

I Know The Plan

"'For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the LORD, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.'" ~ Jeremiah 29:11

Think there's no plan for your life?

Think there's no purpose for your existence?

Think God has forgotten about you? That he doesn't care for you? That he no longer considers you in His overall plan for the world?

Well, think again.

God bless,
J.W.

Easy Like Sunday Morning

“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” ~ Matthew 11:29-30

Recently, I’ve discovered the joy and peace that comes from resting in God, from basking in His presence, from spending time with Him. There’s absolutely nothing in the world like it, to know that you are protected and loved by a Heavenly Father that has all power in His hands.

Some may think I’m crazy.

Others may think I’m naïve.

But until you experience for yourself, you’ll never understand.

Today, give all your worries and cares over to God and watch Him work.

He is the Great I Am. He will supply all of your need (Philippians 4:19).

God bless,
J.W.

Friend of God - Part 2

“So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” ~ Exodus 33:11

Often times, we, as Christians, fail miserably when it comes to witnessing to others about God.

Why?

Because we talk about God like he’s some far away being in a distant land.

We even talk to God that way.

We say things like “God, show up today” or “God, just come by here and bless us.”

Don’t we know that God is ever-present?

He’s always with us.

In fact, the Bible says He is a friend that sticks closer than a brother.

So, why do we talk about Him the way we do?

God wants to be our best friend. He doesn’t ask for much. Just that we would relate to Him in a very real and intimate way.

So, have you talked to God as you would a friend yet?

God bless,
J.W.

Love

What do you think when you hear the word “love”?

Do you think of your first love?

The love you have for your friends and family?

The love you share with your spouse or significant love?

Do you think of unconditional love? Agape love?

Undying love?

What about sacrificial love?

Today, as we celebrate this season of love, let us remember what love is really about. It’s not about showering our girlfriend with gifts, or taking your wife out to dinner. Rather, it’s about showing love to EVERYBODY, EVERYWHERE, ALL YEAR ROUND.

God bless,
J.W.

“Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.”
~ 1 Corinthians 13:1-18

Stand

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” ~ Ephesians 6:10-13

As Christians, a lot of times we focus too much on action.

We say things like “walk into your season.”

Or “take back what the devil stole from you.”

Or “faith without works is dead.”

While all of that is certainly true, sometimes God doesn’t want us to act.

Sometimes, God just wants us to stand.

Through all that we’re going through, God just wants us to be patient and endure.

It’s hard, but as the Bible says, “obedience is better than sacrifice.”

Stand.

God bless,
J.W.

Friend of God

“And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God.” ~ James 2:23

Many times, people who don’t know God find it hard to talk to Him.

“How do I talk to someone I can’t see?” they wonder.

Well, here’s how.

Talk to God as you would a friend. Be real with Him. Tell Him what’s going on in your life. Ask for His advice on everything from your career choices to your love life to your finances.

See, James 2:23 is evidence that God wants to be your friend. He wants to have a personal relationship with you.

So accept His invitation today. Get to know God in a more personal, intimate way.

I promise you won’t be disappointed.

God bless,
J.W.

Work It Out

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” ~ Romans 8:28

Recently, I’ve been thinking about this scripture in the context of both my life and our current economic crisis. Millions and millions of people have lost their jobs, their homes, their retirement savings, etc. over the past two years or so.

But this scripture tells us that despite all of that, despite the negativity we see on the news or read in the papers, God has promised to work all things out for our good.

“What exactly does that mean?” you might ask.

It means that we don’t have to worry as we go through this crisis; that the circumstance we now find ourselves in is not permanent; that the storm won’t last forever; and that, as they say, this too shall pass.

As Jesus said when He heard that Lazarus had died, “this sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God may be glorified through it.”

Likewise, this financial crisis is not unto death. It will not ruin us, if we have God on our side.

As such, we can have confidence as we face the trials and tribulations of our daily lives and know that God is working behind the scenes to ensure that “all things work together for good to those who love God and who are called according to His purpose.”

God bless,
J.W.
