This Is The Way
Republished from February 22, 2010
"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'" ~ Isaiah 30:21
Often times, as Christians, we fail to fully realize the sovereignty that God has over our lives. We think that God is like us. That He lives in time. That He takes life as it comes. That He worries and complains about life like we do.
But God doesn't live like us. He doesn't live in time. He's eternal and He's sovereign.
So what does that mean for us?
It means that God has already worked things out for us. He's already determined what direction our lives will take. Our job is to do our part and walk in the path that's He's already laid out for us.
When we worry about the future, i.e. what's going to happen and how we're going to make it happen, we essentially say to God, "I don't trust you. I don't believe that you are sovereign, so I'm going to take things into my own hands, and make it happen on my own."
But that is not the way God wants us to live. Rather, He wants us to live freely, with power and purpose.
Walk in the path he's laid out for you today.
God bless,
J.W.

Test of Faith

For those of you that don’t know, my wife and I are 9 weeks and 2 days pregnant right now.
Watching our little grow one day by day has been amazing. It’s really given me a sense of how awesome God is and how precious life is.
But as amazing as it’s been, every day has also been a test of faith – faith that things will turn out okay, that nothing will go wrong, that the baby will be strong and healthy. Everyday, it’s a struggle, because we’re human and negative thoughts can creep into our minds without us even recognizing it.
But God has told us to be anxious for nothing, that in everything, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, we should let our requests be made known to Him (Philippians 4:6). So that’s what we’ve done. Every night (or at least most nights), we’ve prayed for our little one. And we know that everything will turn out fine.
That’s what God wants us to do with everything. Submit our requests to him and then rest assured that everything will turn out fine.
Remember, He loves you too much to see you fail.
God bless,
J.W.
