Your Mouth

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." ~ Ephesians 4:29

Not only does our health call us to check what goes in our mouth (through the food we eat). It also calls us to check what comes out of our mouths (through the words we say).

Check your mouth today fam.

God bless,

J.W.

Speak Life

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit." ~ Proverbs 18:21

Words can kill. But words can also bring healing.

My question is, if we were to take account of all the words you say to both yourself and other people, which type of words would outweigh the other?

Would we see that your words mostly speak life (Proverbs 10:11)? Or would you words mostly speak death and destruction for yourself and others?

God commands us to build people up through our words and to speak grace (Ephesians 4:29).

So what words are you speaking today?

God bless,
J.W.

#PassionWeek - #GoodFriday - "You Can't Tell Me Nothing"

"And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing. Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, 'Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!' But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled." ~ Mark 15:3-5

This day, 2014 years ago, Jesus stood accused of various crimes in front of various judges, but “answered nothing.”

Why?

Because Jesus’ actions spoke louder than anything He could have ever said in those moments.

There’s a lot of people with the gift of gab; a lot of people who can talk a good game; a lot of people with an abundance of things to say. But when it’s all said and done, what will your actions say about you?

When God Speaks The Loudest

When Michele and I got married, my mom gave us a picture frame that read “Make time for the quiet moments as God whispers and the world is loud.”

It now hangs above our bed.

In today’s fast-paced, activity-filled society, we often fear silence, the absence of noise.

So… our TVs stay on all day, our radios play while we drive in our cars, we watch YouTube while we’re on our computers. I know some of you were even concerned that I hadn’t written in my Journal in a while.

But, sometimes it’s good to be silent, for in those times, God speaks the loudest.

God bless,
J.W.

“And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.” ~ 1 Kings 19:11-12
