Where's Your Treasure?

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." ~ Matthew 6:19-21

Despite what Wall Street might tell you, the best investment you can make is in people. Why do you think Facebook is so successful? It allows us to invest in the people closest to us.

Money, cars, clothes, and things fade away, but the impression we make on the lives of others last a lifetime.

Where are you investing your treasure today?

The Reason for the Season

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." ~ Isaiah 9:6

Remember - Jesus is the reason for the season!

We celebrate Christmas to celebrate Christ!

Have a merry Christmas everyone!

God bless,

One Of A Kind (Part II)

"Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." ~ 1 Peter 4:10

One thing I’ve noticed being married for three years now is that God gives each of us our own unique gifts and talents. Many don’t know it but Michele and I are polar opposites. We disagree on a lot of things. We do things differently.

But God planned it that way. He made us and brought us together to be perfect complements.

God also made each of you to be unique. Don’t be ashamed of that. Don’t let others make you feel like an outcast because you don’t fit in. You weren’t made to fit in. You were made to be outside the box. It’s God plan!

God bless,
J.W.

Changing Your Mind

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." ~ Romans 12:2

A few weeks ago, my pastor preached a sermon.

His main point: "You can change your life by changing your thinking."

And it's true!

This scripture tells us that you can transform your life by renewing (or changing) your mind.

What's more, I'd even suggest that you can change the lives of millions of others just by changing the way you think.

Just THINK about it. :)

God bless,

The Real Enemy

"For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." ~ Ephesians 6:12

Often times in life, we get paranoid.

We think people are out to get us, set us up, and take us down.

In short, we think people are our enemies.

However, Ephesians 6 suggests otherwise.

It suggests that people are not our enemies, but are rather used by our real enemy to attack us, throw us off our game, and distract us from accomplishing that which God has called us to do.

So, as you go throughout your day and people start to stress you out, don't react with carnal weapons.

This is a spiritual war and God calls us to use our spiritual weapons -

God bless,
J.W.

Strength in Weakness

"But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me." ~ 2 Corinthians 12:9

So many of us lament and wallow in our failures and weaknesses. We think because something may not have gone our way, that makes us a failure.

But the Bible says that God's power is made perfect in our weakness. Therefore, our failures are simply springboards for success.

Stop looking at failure as a bad thing and see it for what it is - the propeller to your success.

God bless,
J.W.

Quicksand

"He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken." ~ Psalm 62:2

Matthew 7:24-27 tells the story of two men, one of whom built his house on sand, the other upon a rock. For the former, "the rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash."

The latter: "the rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."

What have you built your life upon? Is it quicksand (i.e. money, cars, clothes, fame, etc.)? Or is it the Rock?

God bless,
J.W.
