Write The Vision

“Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” ~ Habakkuk 2:2-3

Sometimes, I think we miss the importance of writing things down.

We often use phrases like “I got it all in my head” or “I can remember that.”

But often times, it’s not about our ability to remember.

See, writing things down makes them plain.

It makes your thoughts tangible so that God can use and work with them.

As the scripture above indicates, writing things down allows a herald (an angel) to run with it, to work on your behalf to make it happen.

As I’ve mentioned before, Michele and I wrote down our goals for 2009 at the beginning of the year and doing so has made achieving them so much easier.

Each day, I try to write a to-do list of everything I want to accomplish that day, and more often than not, I do it all or at least accomplish more than I would have had I not written things down.

So, as you go throughout the day, remember the principle of writing things down.

God has promised that if you write down the vision that He’s given you, though it may take a minute to come to fruition, though it may not come when you want it, it will surely come to pass.

God bless,
J.W.

Are You A Garbage Truck?

The other day, I was reading the online series called “The Daily Encourager.” It sends me an inspirational message every day.

This particular message was called “The Law of the Garbage Truck” and the author told a story about a time when he was in a cab and the driver almost had an accident.

“We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us,” the author writes. “My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches!”

Ironically, however, it was NOT the taxi cab driver who was upset, but the driver of the other car. “[He] whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy.”

The author questions the taxi driver: “Why did you just do that? That guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!”

The taxi driver answered: Some people are like garbage trucks. They walk around full of garbage -- frustration, anger, disappointment, resentment -- and as their garbage begins to pile up, they need a place to dump it. Sometimes they'll dump it on you.The taxi driver adds: But don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

You see, people who are truly spiritually and emotionally mature don’t let others disrupt their day. They are thermostats where others are thermometers. They set the temperature. They control the situation. They influence the circumstance rather than allowing the circumstance to influence them.

So, I ask you. Are you a garbage truck or a garbage remover?

Are you a thermostat or a thermometer?

God bless,
J.W.
