A Change Gon' Come

They say the only thing constant in life is change. Well, if that's true, why do we as human beings, in general, have such a hard time adapting to change and dealing with transition? No matter what our position in life, at some point in time, we will all have to deal with change. Whether it's a new school, a new house, a new house, a new marriage, whatever it is, we will have to face the prospect of change. It's just a part of life. So the question is not will change come, but rather will we be ready when it does?

Because change is constant, we must always be prepared for and open to it. Closemindedness and stubborn resistance will only leave us left behind the rest of the pack. I know there were many times in my life where life was good. I had no worries and was pretty comfortable in my situation. But there's a time and season for everything (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8). Situations always have a way of changing on us at the drop of a dime. But the question is, how will you change?

See, God tells us that the things of this world are not eternal. Someday they will pass away. And that is why he urges us not to focus on those things that suffer from wear, tear, and fragility, but rather the things in life that endure, that will last forever. 1 Timothy 4:8 says "for bodily exercise profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come." Matthew 6:33 says to "seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these other things (including material possession, health, strength, etc.) will be added unto you."

So, if you're experiencing transition in your life right now, don't run from it! Don't ignore it and do not fear it! Embrace it! Know that life's transitions are God's way of building your faith in Him before He takes you to the next dimension in your life. I know it can be hard when it seems like there's no way out of your situation. But the Bible says, "weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psalm 30:5)." Embrace your nights with the knowledge that daybreak is near.

God bless,
